Film Director Rob Reiner And His Wife Michele Singer Found Dead At Their Home

Rob Reiner and Michele pictured at a Broadway opening in 2015The award-winning film director and actor Rob Reiner has been found dead at his home at the age of 78, alongside his wife, the musician Michele Singer.In the early hours of Monday morning, TMZ was the first to report that Reiner and Singer had been found dead at a property owned by the filmmaker.The Los Angeles Fire Department said it had responded to a medical aid request shortly after 3:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, and found a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman dead inside.Detectives with the Robbery Homicide Division were investigating an “apparent homicide” at Reiner’s home, said Capt. Mike Bland with the Los Angeles Police Department.AP later confirmed that Reiner and Singer were the two people found dead at the property.Reiner – the son of the late entertainment legends Carl and Estelle Reiner – began his career in the late 1960s, eventually rising to fame for his work in the sitcom All In The Family, for which he won two Emmys. His other on-screen work included films like The First Wives Club, Sleepless In Seattle and The Wolf Of Wall Street.However, to many, Reiner will be best remembered for his work behind the camera.Rob Reiner pictured during a photo session in 2016In 1984, he made his directorial debut with the critically-lauded mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, going on to achieve huge success with movies like Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, Misery and When Harry Met Sally.His other directing work included A Few Good Men, The Bucket List and the Spinal Tap sequel The End Continues, which arrived in cinemas earlier this year (and in which Reiner made a small appearance, reprising his role as Marty DiBergi).Over the course of his career, Reiner was nominated for Best Director at the Golden Globes four times, for Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men and The American President.Reiner married Singer in 1989, after meeting her while working on When Harry Met Sally.The couple had three ch Jake, Nick, and daughter Romy.
