Danny Kruger, Reform MPA Reform MP has been criticised after he defended one of his party’s candidates who told David Lammy to “go home to the Caribbean”.Dr Chris Parry who is running to be mayor of Hampshire and the Solent, said that was where the justice secretary’s “loyalties lie”.Despite his comments, which he made on X in February, Reform have not dumped him as their candidate.At a press conference this morning, Danny Kruger said Parry was “a very distinguished public servant” and even suggested his remark may have been taken out of context.Kruger – who defected to Reform from the Conservatives in September – said he had not seen the comments but insisted Reform “completely condemn any expression of racism”.After Parry’s quotes were read out to him, the MP said: “I’m afraid to say, without knowing the context of them, and without having understood what is being said, I can’t comment in detail on that.“That is one for Nigel and the party leadership to decide, but I do recognise Chris Parry is a very distinguished public servant and is good to have his support for Reform.”HuffPost UK revealed last week that Labour MP Calvin Bailey had written to Farage demanding Parry be dropped as a Reform candidate.Commenting on Kruger’s remarks, Labour chair Anna Turley said: “It’s staggering that 10 days after these racist comments were first reported, Nigel Farage is still refusing to take action.“No matter what Reform’s senior leadership say, telling a black British man from London to ‘go home to the Caribbean’ is racist, and no ‘context’ can excuse it.“Nigel Farage should stop turning a blind eye to racism in his party and sack his candidate immediately.
