Michael Madsen at the premiere of The Hateful Eight in 2015Michael Madsen, the American actor best known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, has died at the age of 67.The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Thursday evening that Michael had been found unresponsive at his home in California earlier that day, and was subsequently pronounced dead.According to his manager, the Reservoir Dogs star’s cause of death was cardiac arrest.Michael began his on-screen career in the mid-1980s, going on to appear in a range of movies like WarGames, Thelma Louise, Free Willy, The Doors, Sin City and the James Bond film Die Another Day.His first collaboration with Tarantino came in 1992, when he was cast as “Mr Blonde” in the future Oscar-winning filmmaker’s feature-length directorial debut Reservoir Dogs.Over the years, Michael would appear in a string of additional Tarantino projects, including playing Budd in both of the Kill Bill movies, Joe Gage in The Hateful Eight and Sheriff Hackett in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.Michael Madsen in the first Kill Bill movie in 2003As well as his acting work, Michael was a contestant on the ninth season of Celebrity Big Brother back in 2012, where he made it to the final, finishing in fourth place behind athlete Gareth Thomas, singer Frankie Cocozza and actor and presenter Denise Welch.That same year, he appeared in the music video for Justin Bieber’s single As Long As You Love Me, having also starred in videos for the likes of Michael Jackson (You Rock My World), Rita Ora (Black Widow) and Sky Ferreira (Obsession).Among Michael’s final on-screen credits were the sci-fi thriller Every Last One Of Them, the comedy Western Outlaw Johnny Black and the drama Max Dagan, which was released last year.Michael was a father to six children. His youngest son, Hudson Madsen, died by suicide in 2022 at the age of 26.
