Happy Valley diehard fans will be kicking themselves after creator Sally Wainwright pointed out an easter egg in her new show Riot Women that was totally missed by viewers.Riot Women is the Yorkshire writer and director’s latest TV drama, with the critically acclaimed series following a group of midlife women who come together to form a punk rock band and starring the likes of Joanna Scanlan, Tamsin Greig and Sue Johnston. However it was Taj Atwal’s character of Nisha Lal who gave an on-screen nod to Sarah Lancaster’s beloved Happy Valley character Catherine Cawood. With both Nisha and Catherine being in the police force, Sally decided to pay homage to Catherine Cawood by handing her collar number over to Nisha in Riot Women.Sally shared a side-by-side picture of both police officers and joked that it was her own version of the changing faces of James Bond.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Sally Wainwright (@sallywainwrightofficial)“No-one’s spotted this (although there is still time) but we thought we’d tell you anyway… we’ve invented the first female 007, the crucial and thrilling difference is that she’s a Yorkshire police woman,” Sally wrote in an Instagram post. “Our wonderful police adviser (on Happy Valley AND Riot Women) Lisa Casler pointed out that when Catherine Cawood retired and went to the Himalayas, her collar number (9675, which she would have had for thirty years) would simply go back into circulation for a new young recruit to have, so we gave it to Nisha Lal!! A Riot Women nod to Happy Valley”.No stranger to the fictitious police force, Taj also played an officer in Line of Duty, where she starred as AC12’s PC Tatleen Sohota.Meanwhile Riot Women fans will be encouraged to hear that the cast of the show sound keen for a second series, which is no surprise given the scorching hot reception the drama has received from both viewers and critics.BBC, you know what you need to do…Related...There s Good News And Bad News For Anyone Hoping For Season 2 Of Riot WomenThought The Stars Of Riot Women Looked Familiar?
