(AP Photo/Vianney Le Caer)Victoria Beckham has shed some light on why people might think she looks “miserable” in public. The fashion designer has had a reputation for looking stern since her Spice Girls days, with Victoria previously saying that “not smiling publicly” was the “armour” that she hid behind. Now, she has addressed the tabloids’ peddling of her as a “miserable cow” in her new Netflix documentary, and last night shared a clip on Instagram in which she breaks down one possible reason for the narrative, laying the blame at her husband David Beckham’s feet.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Victoria Beckham (@victoriabeckham)“Here’s a fact, I’ve looked miserable for all these years because when we stand on the red carpet, this guy has always gone on the left,” she explains in the clip.“Now I didn’t realise that when I smile – which I do! – I smile from the left, because if I smile from the right, I look unwell.“So, consequently I’m smiling on the inside – but no one ever sees it. So, that’s why I look so moody.”Victoria’s self-titled Netflix documentary series, which follows on from her husband’s four-parter for the streaming platform, has received mixed reviews from critics, with some heralding its brutal honesty and others brushing it off as more of a “puff piece”.As well as joking about her “miserable” reputation, elsewhere she opened up about the difficulties that come with being in the public eye and her struggle with an eating disorder. The documentary also charts the star preparations for Paris Fashion Week.In a recent interview to promote the documentary Victoria also spoke about her and David’s sons and where she stands on the nepo baby debate, claiming that youngest son and aspiring musician Cruz has “properly done it from the grass roots up” and urging people to be kind. Meanwhile the streaming giant is set to shine a light on even more British celebrities as it expands its documentary pool, with Gordon Ramsay and Take That also set to get the Netflix treatment through their own documentary series.READ MORE:These Are Our 11 Top Picks Of The New Shows And Films To Stream On Netflix In October 2025Victoria Beckham Left Crying Happy Tears After David s Very Sweet Reaction To Her Netflix DocVictoria Beckham Opens Up For The First Time About Her History Of Eating Disorders
