Anthony Ramos in Netflix s A House Of DynamiteThe writer of the hit Netflix thriller A House Of Dynamite has spoken out after the Pentagon issued a response to the movie.Earlier this week, Bloomberg published details of an internal memo from the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) taking issue with what they felt were certain inaccuracies depicted in the film.A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that the organisation had not been not consulted during the creation of the film, which they insisted “does not reflect the views or priorities of this administration”.In their statement, they also said that the system depicted in A House Of Dynamite “remains a critical component of our national defence strategy, ensuring the safety and security of the American people and our allies”.The film’s writer Noah Oppenheim has since defended A House Of Dynamite, telling The Guardian he “respectfully disagrees” with the Pentagon’s assessment of it.Confirming he spoke to “many missile defence experts, all on the record” to help put together the film’s story, he insisted: “Our missile defence system is highly imperfect. What we show in the movie is accurate.”Earlier this month, A House Of Dynamite’s director Kathyrn Bigelow told CBS Sunday Morning that she specifically didn’t want to work with the Pentagon on the production of the movie to ensure she and her team could be “more independent”.She added: “That being said, we had multiple tech advisers who have worked in the Pentagon. They were with me every day we shot.”A House Of Dynamite began streaming last week, and is the number one movie on Netflix’s list of most-watched films right now at the time of writing. It has also been well-received by both critics and audiences, with an enviable 78% critical score on the reviews aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.Netflix’s official synopsis for the film – which stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson and Anthony Ramos – teases: “When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.”MORE FILM NEWS:This Is What The Pentagon Had To Say About Netflix s New Thriller A House Of DynamiteOscar Winner Guillermo Del Toro Has 3 Very Blunt Words When Asked For His Feelings About AI In CinemaJohn Bishop Reveals How He Really Feels About Bradley Cooper s New Film Inspired By His Life
