The cast of the new Knives Out film Wake Up Dead ManKnives Out director Rian Johnson has opened up about his hopes for the future of the movie franchise. After the success of the first star-studded mystery film, Netflix bought the rights to the Knives Out brand, signing a deal to produce two more sequels with fittingly A-list casts.Film number two, Glass Onion, came out at the end of 2022, with the third in the series, Wake Up Dead Man, due to begin streaming around the festive period.During a Q A session at the London Film Festival last week, Rian was asked if he’d like to keep the series going now the Netflix deal is over.As reported by Variety, the two-time Oscar nominee insisted: “I don’t feel burnt out doing these at all. If anything I feel energised after doing this one.“So as long as audiences want to keep seeing it, and Daniel [Craig, who plays detective Benoit Blanc in all three movies] and I are still having fun making them and still feel like we can come up with stuff that feels not just fresh, but a fresh challenge for us, I think that’ll translate to a new experience for the audience.”Rian Johnson with the Knives Out saga s leading man Daniel CraigRian added: “For now, I’d be thrilled to keep making these for the rest of my life.”However, speaking at a subsequent event for Deadline, the filmmaker made it clear that Knives Out fans could be in for a bit of a wait before a fourth movie in the series, as he’s currently working on something else.“I’m writing right now, [but] it’s not one of these films,” he claimed. “It’s just something completely different, an original thing.”While he reiterated that he feels “very energised” after completing work on Wake Up Dead Man, he pointed out: “This is three in a row. It’s probably healthy to see other people.”Joining Daniel Craig in Wake Up Dead Man, in which the former James Bond actor reprises his role as Benoit Blanc, are the likes of Glenn Close, Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott and Kerry Washington. So far, Wake Up Dead Man has had mostly positive reviews since premiering at various film festivals over the last few months, ahead of its limited cinematic release in November, and subsequent arrival on Netflix in December.MORE FILM NEWS: That s Not OK : Harris Dickinson Opens Up About Feeling Objectified After Erotic Thriller BabygirlColin Farrell Sets The Record Straight About The Future Of His Penguin CharacterThought The Stars Of The Woman In Cabin 10 Cast Looked Famiiar?
